Quilting time! a work in progress...

About a month ago, I decided my dining table was looking quite barren and urgently needed a splash of color! ( poor thing…).  Maybe it was just an excuse to ask Helen to teach me another patchwork technique, but am having a lot of fun with it!! Another trip to the haberdashery to buy fabrics, and my wonky stripes table runner is coming out really nicely!

À cerca de um mês decidi que a minha mesa de jantar estava muito despida e precisava rapidamente de uma boa dose de cor! ( coitadinha...). Talvez tenha sido uma desculpa para pedir à Helen que me ensinasse uma nova técnica de patchwork, mas estou a divertir-me imenso com este projecto! Mais uma ida à retrosaria para comprar tecidos e o meu wonky stripes entremeio para a mesa está a começar a tomar forma! 

Fabrics Ahoy!!

I go often to my local haberdashery, usually to buy zippers or bobbins for the sewing machine, needles or some other little thing I need. But I can never resist the sight of all those fabrics crying out to be used, and sewed, and stitched and my mind just drifts into all the possibilities….! I’m in fabric heaven! And of course, the needle I needed turns into a few more euros spent and a all lot of fabric. Mmmmm ! 

Vou com alguma regularidade à retrosaria, normalmente para comprar um fecho-éclair, canelas para a minha máquina de costura, agulhas ou qualquer outro acessório que preciso. Mas não consigo resistir a todos os tecidos à disposição, que pedem para serem usados, cosidos, bordados e a minha mente começa a divagar perante todas as possibilidades que eles apresentam…! Estou no paraíso dos tecidos! E, obviamente, a agulha que eu precisava acaba por se transformar em mais dinheiro gasto e muitos, muitos tecidos. Mmmmmm! 

I just couldn't resist...love the bright colours! A quilt would be nice, and maybe add white cotton fabric to the bunch. What do you think?

Não consegui resistir...adoro estes tecidos cheios de cor! Um quilt seria uma boa ideia, talvez adicionando tecido de algodão branco a esta escolha. O que acham?

I still have these that I bought last month waiting to be used. They are softer, pastel colours and Tilda's book has given me a few ideias on what to do with them. They are actually flannel and i managed to get them at a very low price...so I just had to buy them!

Ainda tenhos estes tecido que comprei no mês passado à espera para serem usados. Os tons são mais suaves e o livro da Tilda deu-me algumas ideias sobre o que fazer com eles. São na realidade tecidos de flanela e consegui-os a um preço fantástico, por isso...tive que os comprar! 

What a Miracle!

A few weeks ago, as I was in the sewing room trying to finish an ongoing project, I heard all this racket going on outside in the garden. I looked through the window  and saw my husband on top of a ladder. “Finally!” I thought to myself, “he is actually going to do some tree trimming!” but as I looked closely, he was holding a camera! He came rushing back inside all excited and showed me this beautiful picture of a nest with three eggs in it! I marveled at how perfect it was and at the miracle of life happening right there in my garden! My husband and I waited with great anticipation for the coming weeks…

Há umas semanas atrás, enquanto eu estava no quarto da costura a tentar acabar um projecto em mãos, ouvi barulhos lá fora no jardim. Olhei pela janela e vi o meu marido em cima do escadote! "Finalmente!" pensei, "ele vai desbastar as árvores!", mas ao olhar com mais atenção apercebi-me que ele tinha a máquina fotográfica nas mãos! Entrou dentro de casa muito entusiasmado e mostrou-me uma fotografia linda de um ninho com três ovos lá dentro! Fiquei maravilhada com a sua perfeição e com o milagre da vida a ter lugar ali mesmo no meu jardim! Foi com grande ansiedade que eu e o meu marido aguardámos pelas próximas semanas...

What a miracle to be able to have witnessed that...!

Que milagre poder ter presenciado tudo isto...!
